• Appetite will increase
• Increasing weight
• Breast sizes also increase.

Once the veterinarian confirmed about pregnancy they are certain important things you need to keep in mind.

• They need a special requirement in feeding like:
     Diet rich in proteins, calorie,
     Avoid giving fibers in diet.
     The amount of food should be gradually increased 25% to 50%      more until the delivery.
• Whelping box: few days before delivery they start making nest for her puppies. So you need to make a whelping box otherwise they give birth in your house.


• It is advisable to measure the body temperature of the bitch twice during the last week of pregnancy

• You have to shave her belly; it will help puppy to find nipples. 

• You should also shave and clean the area around her genitals.

 Whelping means few days before delivery.  Before delivery the dog's body temperature will drop to 99 degrees or lower and normal temperature is around 100 102 degrees.

When it drops to 99 degrees then labor should ideally begin within 24 hours of the drop in temperature. She can be expected to enter the first stage of labor, when the cervix dilates and opens the birth canal for the passage of puppies. At this time, she will pant, strain, appear restless or may perhaps vomit. No need to worry because vomiting is normal in this condition. After this stage, it is followed by actual abdominal straining and production of the puppies and placentas.
 After giving birth puppies are take care by their mother. Mother will tear of the membrane and she licks her puppy for better breathing. Mother will continuously lick for 3 weeks or so.
         It is very important for the puppies to suckle soon after emerging from the womb. Suckling lets they ingest colostrums - a milk-like substance containing maternal antibodies which is produced in the mammary glands just after birth. Colostrums help the newborn puppies fight infection in their early days while their own immune systems mature.
