A poison is any substance harmful to the body.
Not all foods or household items are dog-friendly. In fact, some are poisonous and even deadly. Common food poisoning bacteria, e. coli, as salmonella and yersinia, affect human as well as dog also. Although dogs have a good sense what they can and cannot ingest, accidents do happen. But many dogs are attracted to Anti-freeze which can be very hazardous for a dog.

In some types of vegetation, only certain parts of the plant are toxic. Plants can be poisonous and a curious dog may decide to chew on the leaves.
In others, all parts are poisonous. Some of the poisonous houseplant names are:
Chrysanthemum, Creeping fig and Poinsettia.

The effect of these two Rat or mouse poison is very horrible effects to your dog. If you do not get your dog to the vet, he will die. If anything serious is happen then you need to call ASPCA (Animal Poison Control Center).

If we talk about younger dogs then they have more danger from chocolate poisoning. Actually for dog, cooking chocolate is most dangerous. These are 2 toxin names which are in the chocolate, one is caffeine, alkaloid theobromine and second one is mehtyxanthines. These two are very dangerous for your dog.

Ingestion causes a wide range of symptoms.
Actually dogs are reacting differently on different poisons but most of the dogs have these sign during poisoning. Symptoms and sign of dog poison

  • Irregular or elevated heart rate
  • Changes in blood pressure
  • Vomiting will start
  • They look like very depressed
  • Diarrhea
  • Dogs feel constant thirst and frequent urination
  • Sometime mouth gets swollen
  • Sometime kidney problem will start on
  • Abdominal pain
  • Become unconscious

 

If you feel like that your dog has been poisoned then try to identify the poison. It is important not to panic. If your dog is seizuring, losing consciousness, unconscious or having difficulty breathing then don’t feel like panic, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.

 It is best if you keep pet safety kit on hand for emergencies. Kit should be contain, bottle of hydrogen peroxide, can of soft dog food, to flush out eye contamination keep saline eye solution, artificial get to lubricate eyes after flushing, after skin contamination you need to give him a bath so keep mild grease cutting dishwashing liquid, rubber gloves, forceps to remove stinger, to avoid pain keep muzzle and pet carrier should be their in your house to carry your pet to the veterinarian.
